Dr Awaneesh Katiyar is Trauma Surgeon, Social activist, Artist, Writer and Researcher. Dr Katiyar did his schooling at UP Board, He cleared Pre-medical Exams in 2008 and choose the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University(IMS-BHU), Varanasi. He completed his graduation (MBBS) in 2013 & Master of Surgery (MS-General Surgery) in the year 2017. In post-graduation, he noticed high preventable deaths in India due to accidents and poor pre-hospital facilities. He developed an interest in accidental (trauma)surgery and rehabilitation. In 2018, he cleared the MCh entrance exams in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care through the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). He got a seat at AIIMS Rishikesh in July 2018. He also wanted to learn about Disaster prevention and management, so he did his 2 years Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM) from Indra Gandhi National Open University,(IGNOU) Dehradun in 2019 & M.Ch. in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care in 2021. He is an expert in life-saving skills, performing emergency Surgeries (Trauma and Non-Trauma). He also has a special interest in trauma limb construction surgeries, He is known for saving mangled limbs and traumatic plastic reconstruction surgeries including Vascular, Microvascular, orthopaedic, and soft-tissue reconstructions. He routinely performs trauma laparotomy, thoracotomy, Damage control orthopaedics and vascular repair. He is also specialized in treating cut-throat and head injuries.

He noticed that even after developing new level 1 Trauma Centers, trauma-related deaths remain the same. People remain unaware of road safety, lack primary health services on time, lack life-saving skills among primary contact healthcare workers and paramedics, and bystanders are afraid of civil and criminal cases if they help trauma victims, poor roads, lighting, etc. Overall Social and safety awareness and training for primary healthcare workers may change the scene in India and we will be able to save more lives. He founded a non-profitable, non-governmental Medical organization, that aimed to save more lives with the name PPD Foundation (Prevent Preventable Deaths). PPD Foundation targets Healthcare providers, Traffic Police, and other health providers to enhance basic lifesaving knowledge and spread road safety awareness.

He is also an active researcher and writer, in his Post Graduation (MS), he invented a trauma scoring system called Trauma Severity Score (TSS) in 2017, used to assess the mortality and morbidity of acute trauma victims. He had many articles and attend conferences national and international.
